Homan says staying in Minnesota until ‘problem is solved,’ in 1st public comments since taking over

White House border czar Tom Homan said Thursday that federal immigration agents will conduct “targeted” operations in finding and detaining illegal migrants, in his first public comments since President Trump put him in charge of operations in Minnesota. “Targeted. Targeted,” Homan said at a press conference in Minnesota, five days after federal border agents fatally shot resident Alex Pretti during an operation on a city street. Pretti was killed on Saturday, and President Trump made Homan the point man on Sunday.
Homan also said during the press conference that he was “staying until the problem is solved.”
He also said he’s met with officials in the state and that they have agreed on some issues but not all. 
Homan also said a “sanctuary city,” a municipality that has decided local law enforcement will not work with the federal government to detain and deport illegal immigrants is “a sanctuary for criminals.”
He said he has met with local sheriffs and state Attorney General Keith Ellison. 
Pretti’s death was the second this month in which a Minnesota resident inserted themselves into an illegal immigration operation and was fatally shot by a federal agent. Resident Renee Good was killed Jan. 7.
