The Palestinian militant group Hamas won’t discuss disarmament unless it gets guarantees that Israel will exit Gaza.President Donald Trump’s “Board of Peace” plan that was presented to the group last month requires Hamas to destroy its vast tunnel network in Gaza and lay down its arms.
Citing unnamed sources, Reuters reported that a Hamas delegation met with Egyptian, Qatari and Turkish mediators Wednesday and Thursday, where the group provided several demands and requested amendments to the board’s plan. Among its conditions for peace is that Israel leave Gaza.
According to Hamas, Israel broke the ceasefire with attacks that killed hundreds in Gaza. Israel says the strikes were necessary to stop imminent attacks by militants.
