Grenell reveals his X account was hacked: The Left tries to ‘silence people they don’t agree with’

The head of the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts revealed that his X account was hacked after he posted about the Washington National Opera’s decision to end its long-standing residency with the center.Richard Grenell, the Kennedy Center’s president, said on social media Saturday that the breach led to the deletion of posts he had put up about the Washington National Opera exit after more than five decades.
“X will find the hacker and deal with him/her. I will re-post the statements from last night once they are recovered. Stand by,” he wrote. ” If anyone has screenshots of last night’s content I would appreciate you reposting here. The Left continues to try and silence people they don’t agree with – but they will never succeed.”
The Washington National Opera said it would operate independently for the time being and that the split with the center was amicable, according to NPR.
“Opera companies typically cover only 30-60% of costs through ticket sales, with the remainder from grants and donations that cannot be secured years ahead when productions must be planned,” the group said in a statement.
The news about the opera comes after the center’s board voted in late December to add President Donald J. Trump’s name to the facility, leading to some artists to cancel planned performances. 
Grenell reposted one of the deleted social media posts where he said it was the center’s decision to end the partnership with the Washington National Opera.
“The Trump Kennedy Center has made the decision to end the EXCLUSIVE partnership with the Washington Opera so that we can have the flexibility and funds to bring in operas from around the world and across the U.S.” Grenell said. “Having an EXCLUSIVE relationship has been extremely expensive and limiting in choice and variety.”
