Gonzales rejects resignation calls as scandal mounts, primary enters home stretch

Rep. Tony Gonzales, R-Texas, on Tuesday told CNN’s Manu Raju that he would not resign amid calls from members of his own party to do so.”I am not gonna resign,” he said. “I work every day for the people of Texas… what you’ve seen is not all the facts.”
Gonzales has faced allegations that he had an affair with a staffer, who later committed suicide. A group of female Republican lawmakers, including Reps. Nancy Mace, S.C.; Lauren Boebert, Colo.; and Anna Paulina Luna, Fla.; urged him to step down on Tuesday. Rep. Thomas Massie, R-Ky., followed suit Tuesday afternoon.
Gonzales is facing a competitive primary challenge from Brandon Herrera, aka the “AK guy”, and Republican voters are set to cast their primary ballots on March 3.
Trump has endorsed Gonzales, though he has faced pressure from Massie to rescind that endorsement.
