George Mason University announced the all clear on Friday afternoon after closing its Fairfax campus library due to a bomb threat earlier that day.”The bomb threat at Fenwick Library has ended. No devices were found after extensive search by law enforcement. It is safe to return to normal operations. Fenwick Library will remain closed for the rest of today,” the school said in a campus alert.
The initial alert urged people to leave the building and to keep their distance. The university confirmed it was conducting a search “out of an abundance of caution.”
The incident followed a shooting at Old Dominion University earlier this week. Authorities identified Mohamed Jalloh, who was previously convicted of aiding ISIS, as the gunman.
GMU did not identify the source of the bomb threat.
