A former Voice of America employee pleaded guilty to making threats against Georgia GOP Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene.Seth Jason, 64, worked for VOA when he made eight phone calls to Greene’s congressional offices between October 2023 and January 2025, WUSA9 reported.
He pleaded guilty on Thursday to making anonymous, telephonic threats against Greene.
The Justice Department said Jason’s threats against Greene escalated over time and were the worst around the time of President Trump’s inauguration in January, telling her that she would not “see the inaugural.”
Jason left a voicemail for Greene’s office on Jan. 8, in which he said that she and her staff “were as good as dead.” On Jan. 21, he told her office to get their last will ready, “because we are coming after you, and the only thing you’re going to hear is bang … I’m yearning to hear you cry for your last breath.”
Jason faces a maximum sentence of five years in prison on the charge of Interstate Communications with a Threat to Kidnap or Injure, and two years for Anonymous Telecommunications Harassment.
His sentencing hearing is scheduled for June 18, 2026.
Greene plans to resign from her seat next month, in part because of death threats against herself and her son, followering her rift with Trump.
