Former North Carolina governor deletes post showing him using ID to vote in NC primary

Former North Carolina Democratic Gov. Roy Cooper deleted a social media post Thursday that appeared to show him presenting an ID in order to vote in the state’s primaries as early voting kicks off statewide. The original post on X showed three photographs of the former governor at the polls, the first of which appeared to show him handing identification to poll workers. Another photograph showed him meeting with voters, and a third showed him in a voting booth.
A social media post currently up on X does not feature the first image, but does include the second and third photos.
“I know there’s a lot riding on this race, and I don’t take your vote for granted,” Cooper said in the post. “You can count on me to represent all North Carolinians in the Senate. I exercised my civic duty today, and I hope you’ll join me.”
The National Republican Senatorial Committee flagged the deletion to Just The News, highlighting that Cooper vetoed legislation as governor that would have required identification to vote in state elections, and that he refused to express support for the Safeguard American Voter Eligibility (SAVE) America Act on Thursday, which requires individuals to present proof of citizenship to register to vote and requires Americans to show ID when voting. 
“Roy Cooper used an ID to vote — the exact thing he fought against mandating as Governor and would oppose as Senator,” NRSC Regional Press Secretary Nick Puglia said in a statement. “It’s Democrat hypocrisy at its finest.”
