A former Washington, D.C., police officer has reportedly been arrested in connection with allegations of sexual assault in Virginia and Maryland. The former officer, Timothy Valentin, worked for the city’s Metropolitan Police Department. The arrest and the allegations were reported Monday by local TV station WJLA.
Valentin, 30, of Fort Washington, Md., was arrested in Alexandria, Virginia, in December. He allegedly targeted women he met socially, recorded the encounters, and may have temporarily incapacitated his victims before the attacks.
“Through the course of this investigation, detectives learned that Valantin met women through online dating platforms, taking them on a date where it was believed he could have added substances to their beverages that they were drinking later sexually assaulting them,” said Tarrick McGuire, chief of the Alexandria, Va., police department.
However, authorities say there is no evidence that Valentin committed any of the crimes while he was a police officer.
Valentin has been charged with four counts of rape by force in Virginia, four counts of rape by incapacitation, two counts of adulteration, two counts of sodomy, two counts of abduction with intent to defile, one count of aggravated sexual battery by incapacitation and 15 counts of illegal filming, WJLA also reports.
The suspect also has charges pending in at least six cases in Maryland’s Prince George’s County, and has been tied to a sexual assault in Takoma Park, Md. in 2025.
