Agriculture Secretary Brooke Rollins and Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. on Wednesday announced new American dietary guidelines in a press conference with White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt. The 2025-2030 dietary guidelines will determine food served in public schools, military bases, and other publicly supported institutions, Leavitt confirmed.
“As Secretary of Health and Human Services, my message is clear: eat real food,” Kennedy said, who went on to lament the influence of corporate interests in promoting highly processed food.
“For the first time, the dietary guidelines address ultra-processed foods,” he added.
“We’ve been working on these new dietary guidelines almost since day one,” Rollins added. “America is in the middle of the worst chronic health crisis in our nation’s history.”
“Federal incentives have promoted low-quality, highly processed foods and pharmaceutical intervention instead of prevention,” Rollins said. “The Trump Administration is acutely aware of this danger.”
