Former University of Michigan football coach Sherrone Moore was charged on Friday with stalking a person he had dated and home invasion after he was fired earlier this week.Moore, 39, and married with three young daughters, was arrested Wednesday on an accusation of assault in Pittsfield Township, hours after he was fired by the university for an inappropriate relationship with a staff member, The Associated Press reported.
The Washtenaw County prosecutor’s office said Friday that Moore is accused of “unlawfully entering the dwelling of a victim with whom Mr. Moore had a dating relationship.”
The university has not disclosed details of the alleged relationship but said an investigation found credible evidence against Moore, and athletic director Warde Manuel said the behavior was “a clear violation of university policy.”
Moore signed a five-year contract with the university with a base annual salary of $5.5 million last year. The university will not have to buy out the remaining years of his contract because he was fired for cause, according to the terms of his deal.
