(CN) — Anonymous requests for environmental records may be on shakier ground in the EU after a ruling from Luxembourg signaled Thursday that member states can demand real names and addresses, even if EU law does not.
The Court of Justice of the European Union grounded its decision in a narrow point of law. EU rules guarantee a right to seek environmental information, the judges said, but they do not spell out the procedural details of how requests must be made.
