DNC committee declines to take stance on Israel, punts resolution condemning AIPAC

A Democratic National Committee panel voted Thursday to punt on resolutions that specifically condemn dark money from the pro-Israel American Israel Public Affairs Committee and that pushed the party to support conditioning military aid to Israel. The resolutions were not expected to pass, but the results show that the party is still divided on some issues like how to handle Israel and AIPAC, according to Politico.
The AIPAC resolution called for the DNC to condemn “the growing influence of dark money” in Democratic elections, including the funds that AIPAC spent on recent New Jersey and Illinois primaries. Several DNC members said they rejected the resolution because the party already passed a broader resolution that condemned dark money in elections.
“We had various resolutions that focused on different industries and groups, and instead of going one-by-one, we passed a blanket repudiation,” DNC Chair Ken Martin said on X. “I have made my position on this clear from day one: We must end the influence of dark money in our politics and restore power back to the people.”
The DNC also struck language from the broader resolution that singled out spending from AI- and cryptocurrency-aligned PACs.
