Some California truckers are going to be groaning at the pump this Easter. Diesel prices in San Francisco, California, broke the $8 per gallon mark, according to GasBuddy.
It was the first time in the crowdsourcing website’s history that these prices were reached, according to Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis for GasBuddy.
Gasoline prices throughout the state are above $5 per gallon, among the highest in the country.
California set out to eliminate the use of fossil fuels through strict regulations. After refineries shut down as a result, the state began importing oil to satisfy ongoing demand, which has driven up the state’s already high gas prices.
