Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem, who was being questioned at a House Homeland Security Committee hearing, lit into U.S. Rep. Bennie Thompson (D-Miss.) when he casually dismissed the deadly ambush attack on two National Guard members in the nation’s capital as an “unfortunate accident.”
“With reference to the unfortunate accident that occurred with the National Guardsman being killed,” the Democratic lawmaker began.
“Unfortunate accident? It was a terrorist attack,” Noem quickly interjected. “He shot our Guardsman in the head.”
