House Oversight and Government Reform Committee Chairman James Comer requested Friday that one of the Metropolitan Correctional Center prison guards on duty when late-convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein died testify before the panel.Comer sent a letter to Tova Noel, asking her to appear for a transcribed interview on March 26, according to the committee.
In the letter, Comer wrote that based on Justice Department files, committee documents, and public reporting, the panel believes that Noel has “information that will assist in its investigation” of Epstein.
The most recent person to testify before the committee regarding Epstein was the late financier’s accountant, Richard Kahn, who was interviewed by the panel on Wednesday.
“Mr. Kahn testified under oath that – because the Democrats asked this question – that he had never seen any type of transaction to Trump or anyone in his family,” Comer said Wednesday.
The next person scheduled to testify before the committee regarding Epstein is an executor of Epstein’s estate, lawyer Darren Indyke, on Thursday.
The committee has also interviewed former Attorney General Bill Barr, former Labor Secretary Alex Acosta, Epstein associate Ghislaine Maxwell, Les Wexner, former President Bill Clinton, and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.
Epstein died in prison in 2019, and his death was ruled a suicide. He died at the New York City correctional facility while awaiting trial for alleged federal sex crimes. Epstein pleaded guilty in Florida in 2008 to soliciting a minor for prostitution. He was also a wealthy financier, and his connection to power men around the world, as detailed in recently released Justice Department files, is the subject of much public interest and concern.
