One arose from Nazareth, from being a regular neighbor and carpenter, to being the builder of much of the world’s spiritual architecture. He began by rising above the temptations of wealth, of glory, and power, to become a universal servant and healer. He emerged out of a small town as history’s biggest underdog . . . with a world to overcome.
Jesus arose out of the synagogues of Galilee, a devout follower of the Orthodox traditions of Judaism, to begin a faithful revolution as he began to teach, not that God’s wrath was descending to engulf humanity, but that God’s love had arrived to liberate those who lived in a spiritual dungeon. He was cast out of the synagogues for his revolutionary views and began to preach to the world, rising above its societal divisions to embrace humanity’s differences.
