RIO DE JANEIRO (CN) — Brazil’s Supreme Court unanimously ruled Thursday that structural racism exists in the country and ordered public authorities to take concrete steps to address persistent racial inequalities.
Concluding more than two years of proceedings, the high court told the federal government to revise the National Plan for the Promotion of Racial Equality or to draft a new plan to tackle structural and institutional racism.
