This week on The View, Joy Behar suggested that she is worried that Trump is planning to use the ICE protests in Minneapolis and elsewhere to declare martial law and cancel the 2026 midterm elections. The Trump administration’s Department of Justice (DOJ) told a federal court in a filing that U.S. force against Venezuelan dictator Nicolás Maduro was justified in part by humanitarian harms tied to illegal mining. In the filing, DOJ attorneys said presidents have repeatedly relied on military force to prevent or mitigate humanitarian disasters, particularly when mass civilian displacement threatens regional stability. The department cited prior executive branch legal opinions recognizing the use of force to protect civilians abroad, drawing parallels to law-enforcement situations where officers act to shield bystanders from dangerous criminals. The filing stated that conditions in Venezuela met that threshold.…

The Texas Supreme Court has ruled that law schools in the state will no longer be required to obtain accreditation from the American Bar Association.During a ruling on Jan. 6, the court stated its approval alone is sufficient for law school accreditation. In an earlier opinion issued during its review of the issue, the justices explained their reasoning more directly, stating their preliminary view that the ABA “should no longer have the final say on whether a law school’s graduates are eligible to sit for the Texas bar exam and become licensed to practice law in Texas.” The decision comes…

The Department of War is arguing that the Chinese military is boosted by the Chinese Communist Party in an effort to fulfill China’s goal to replace the United States as the globe’s preeminent superpower — a striking change from just over a decade ago when the Pentagon was welcoming the rise of China. The Pentagon’s annual report, put out just before Christmas to little fanfare, noted that the Chinese military “has for decades marshaled resources, technology, and political will to achieve its vision of a world-class military” and assessed that the People’s Liberation Army (PLA) “is a key component of China’s ambition…
Should the Islamic Republic of Iran fall amid sustained anti-regime protests, two movements in exile with competing visions of what happens next pit the son of Iran’s ousted shah against a democratic opposition that opposed his father’s old regime.Sustained protests are currently rocking the regime in Tehran, which has resorted to violent crackdowns on protesters to maintain control. At the same time, President Donald Trump has vowed to intervene if the regime doesn’t stop the killing of protesters. On Monday, he canceled any further meetings with Iranian officials unless the killings stopped. In subsequent days, there were signs that the U.S. was…

The Supreme Court is set to revisit one of the most consequential and contentious areas of election law this term in National Republican Senatorial Committee v. Federal Election Commission. At issue is a decades-old federal limit on how much money national political parties may spend in coordination with their own candidates. The court’s decision could reshape campaign strategy and party infrastructure as the 2026 midterm elections approach. The Law at Issue: Limits on Coordinated Party Spending Under current law, political parties may spend unlimited amounts of money independently of their candidates, meaning without consulting or cooperating with a campaign. But Congress has…
Minnesota Governor Tim Walz delivered a primetime address to his state where he demanded the Trump Administration remove the federal agents and end its occupation. But the entire six-minute livestream was marred by technical difficulties. The audio on Walz’s livestream was plagued with a horrible echo. “What’s happening in Minnesota right now defies belief,” Walz said. “News reports simply don’t do justice to the level of chaos and disruption and trauma the federal government is raining down upon our communities,” he said. “Donald Trump intends for it to get worse. This week, he went online to promise that quote, ‘the…

Screencap of Twitter/X video. In 2016, when Obama was still president, CNN did a ride-along with ICE agents as they carried out a series of arrests and deportations in the blue city of Chicago and the difference in the tone of the report is remarkable. There is no controversy. There are no protests. No one is being accused of being a fascist. It’s like a different world. This is proof that what is happening now is all about propaganda. Democrats and the media are whipping their base into a frenzy because they want all of this chaos. It is all…

Some American schools are teaching students Howard Zinn’s American history. It’s a bleak, negative view of America. Zinn was a communist. Were he still alive, he’d say we live on stolen land. Nothing was stolen. It was won. The Natives were small in numbers and were mostly migratory. No one owned the land. They were warriors, not victims. The pendulum of American history is swinging too far. People who teach the communist stolen land myth are pushing anti-American ideology. Some community notes on the clip below insisted that we are on stolen land. What a sorry education they had. The…
Kamala Harris Kamala Harris just bought a new $8 million mansion in Malibu near the beach. She must be deeply concerned about climate change. Have you noticed this pattern? Democrat elites, the people most likely to lecture others about climate change and to claim that it’s an existential threat to humanity and the planet, sure do love to buy homes on the coast. Just look at Obama. Where are his homes? Martha’s Vineyard and Hawaii. Does that sound like a man who is worried about climate change? This new home for Kamala Harris is just the latest example of this.…

Democrats have a problem. The left wing of their party is pushing ‘Abolish ICE’ again. The problem with that is the last time their party opened the borders all the way, there was a major backlash that helped cost them the election in 2024. So once again the party is split between the ‘establishment’ and the ‘crazies’. The Left sees this as a vital part of their project for dismantling America. The Democrat establishment can muster no higher objections to that so long as it’s couched in terms like ‘decolonization’ or ‘the right side of history’, but it only objects…

PHOENIX (CN) — Arizona’s Senate Elections Committee moved to support a handful of bills that would increase public access to voter records, though Democrats say the measures would lead to safety concerns by publishing personal voter information. Senate Bill 1038 would require a county recorder to make publicly available the full, unredacted vote cast record after an election.
