Far-left Democratic member of Congress Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-TX) has announced that she is running for Texas’s up for election senate seat in the 2026 midterms, a decision that means she will likely be pitted against either Sen. John Cornyn (R-TX), who currently holds the seat, or Texas AG Ken Paxton, who is challenging him for it in the GOP primary.
Republicans, as could be expected, have reacted with undisguised glee to the news, seeing Rep. Crockett as an individual who will be easier to target and take down in a Senate race in the red state of Texas than a more moderate Democratic candidate who could potentially rally independent voters.
