The Golden Gate Bridge was built in just over 4 years for $630 million in today’s money. The Brooklyn Bridge took longer, over 10 years, but came in at a lower price, $518 million in today’s money. The interstate highway system took even longer, over 40 years from conception to full completion, and cost a lot more too—but I’m being told it’s quite a bit longer than either of the bridges (unconfirmed at the time of writing).
