The launch of TrumpRx.gov is the latest and most important example of the president’s promise to Make America Healthy Again (MAHA). The platform offers discounts ranging from 33 to 93 percent on 43 brand-name medications, with more coming soon. Notably, TrumpRx has partnered with chain pharmacy CVS, meaning Americans can use their TrumpRx discount cards at approximately 9,000 pharmacies nationwide. But proposed legislation in Tennessee, Oklahoma, Mississippi, and Arizona threatens this partnership. Without these pharmacies and their economies of scale, TrumpRx fails. Without TrumpRx, legislators in Tennessee, Oklahoma, Mississippi, and Arizona fail their respective constituents. Without a convenient and affordable means of buying prescription drugs, America loses.
Consider the fact that Tennessee would prohibit pharmacy benefit managers (PBMs) from owning or operating pharmacies in the state or that Oklahoma would establish a new regulatory framework prohibiting PBMs and their affiliated entities from holding pharmacy licenses to sell retail drugs in Oklahoma, with an effective date of November 1, 2026.
