    DOJ Moves to Launch New Attacks Against James Comey and Letitia James

    On December 19, 2025, the U.S. Department of Justice appealed a November ruling by U.S. District Judge Cameron McGowan Currie dismissing indictments against former FBI Director James Comey for making false statements and obstruction of Congress, and New York AG Letitia James, who was indicted for bank fraud and false statements related to a 2020 Virginia property mortgage.

    For context, the biased judge found that Lindsey Halligan’s interim appointment as U.S. Attorney was unlawful under federal law and the Constitution’s Appointments Clause, invalidating her actions. Post-dismissal, grand juries twice rejected re-indicting James, and Comey’s statute of limitations expired. The appeals, filed in the 4th Circuit, challenge the appointment ruling to revive the cases.
