Trump bemoans Iran reneging on promises in negotiations

President Donald Trump on Monday bemoaned the difficulties of dealing with the Iranian government amid peace talks, complaining that the Tehran government would make promises, only to back out days later.Speaking to reporters, Trump said that Iran had agreed to remove enriched uranium from the country, but that the government backed out of that commitment and didn’t put the provision in their formal proposal to Washington.
“They agree with us, then they take it back,” he complained. “So when they sent us this document that we waited four days for, they should have taken ten minutes to do. Look, it’s very simple. We get that, they guarantee no nuclear weapons for a very long period of time.”

“And a couple of other minor things, but they just can’t get there. So they agree with us and then they take it back. But they said to us that it was so badly obliterated,” he added.
Trump on Sunday formally rejected a peace proposal from Iran, calling it “totally unacceptable.” The proposal reportedly did not include any nuclear concessions.
Washington’s stated reason for the conflict has been to prevent Iran from developing a nuclear weapon.
