In the presidential runoff, José Antonio Kast of the Republican Party won a decisive 58% of valid votes, compared to 41% for the left-wing candidate Jeannette Jara.
This result is a great step forward in matters of policies on order, security, and family defense, reaffirming the conservative values that many Chileans felt had been threatened for decades by progressive governments.
