    A growing body of research links frequent laughter to improved digestive function, according to nutritionists and medical researchers. While laughter is commonly associated with emotional well?being, experts now point to physical and biochemical mechanisms that may benefit the gut.

    Adrienne Benjamin, a gut nutritionist at ProVen Biotics, told DailyMail.com that “laughter isn’t just emotional, it triggers physical responses in the body.” Researchers say that these responses include abdominal muscle contractions, reduced stress hormones, and the release of endorphins that can help relieve digestive discomfort. The gentle “internal massage” created by laughter may support movement through the digestive tract and even release trapped gas, according to Benjamin.
