Florida GOP Rep. Anna Paulina Luna said Wednesday that she will hold a hearing in May on the controversial former CIA program, MK-Ultra. The project, which conducted experiments and studied the potential use of LSD and other drugs for mind control and information-gathering purposes, began in the 1950s but was shut down in the 1970s.
Luna suggested new hearings on the program in February after a Daily Mail article noted that a new report on the intelligence service studying mind control was added to the CIA reading room last year, but did not schedule the hearing until Wednesday.
“Hearing on May 13. MK Ultra. House Oversight Taskforce,” she confirmed in a post on X.
The lawmaker did not give any additional insight into what the hearing would entail and has not provided information on the time or location of the hearing so far.
