President Donald Trump on Thursday signed an executive order expanding access to retirement savings accounts.”This afternoon, I’m thrilled to sign a historic Executive Order expanding access to high quality retirement savings accounts for millions of Americans,” Trump said. “In my State of the Union earlier this year, I promised to make the same types of retirement accounts enjoyed by federal employees available to all Americans, so that’s what we’re doing.”
Beginning in 2027, Americans will be able to secure low-cost IRA accounts through TrumpIRA.gov and “access the same type of retirement accounts that federal employees enjoy,” Trump said.
The order builds on Trump’s efforts to expand access to investment and savings accounts. Earlier in his term, he created so-called “Trump accounts” as an investment plan for young Americans.
