Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton on Thursday has ramped up his probe of suspected H-1B visa abuse in Texas, issuing a string of investigative demands to nearly 30 businesses in North Texas.“I will not allow the H-1B program to be abused by bad actors seeking to use it as a loophole for allowing foreign nationals to invade Texas,” Paxton said in a press release. “My office will continue working to uncover and put an end to fraud within the H-1B program.”
Specifically, Paxton issued Civil Investigate Demands (CIDs) to several businesses. He further announced an array of businesses to the investigation, citing reports of “ghost offices” and suspected abuse of H-1B visas.
The program has long faced scrutiny from immigration hawks over alleged abuse.
