Julie Davis, the acting U.S. Ambassador to Ukraine, plans to leave her post in June. The Financial Times first reported on her departure, attributing the decision to policy disagreements with the Trump administration on Ukraine. The State Department confirmed her departure to The Hill, but denied that policy disagreements drove the decision.
“It is false to suggest Ambassador Davis is resigning ‘over differences with Donald Trump,’” State Department spokesman Tommy Piggot told the outlet. “Ambassador Davis has been a steadfast proponent of the Trump Administration’s efforts to bring about a durable peace between Russia and Ukraine.”
Davis assumed the post in May 2025 after Bridget Brink resigned over disagreements with Trump on Ukraine.
The Trump administration has taken a comparatively less bellicose approach to Russia than the Biden administration did, and has made several attempts to negotiate an end to the Iran war.
