    Trump administration may reclassify marijuana soon, allowing for easier medical research: report

    The Trump administration may reclassify marijuana as early as Wednesday. The move would not legalize recreational marijuana sales, but it would make it easier to do marijuana research. Marijuana is currently listed as Schedule I, meaning it has no accepted medical uses – the same classification as heroin. In December, Trump signed an executive order arguing that this classification is hindering research into potential medical benefits of marijuana and cannabis derivatives. The order called for the drug to be moved to Schedule III.
    Citing unnamed sources, Axios reported Wednesday that the president is expected to go through with the rescheduling, which would put marijuana in the same category as ketamine and steroids.
