Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy’s daughter Evita Duffy-Alfonso on Thursday lashed out at the Transportation Security Administration for a long airport wait time while she was patted down by an officer, and called for the TSA to be abolished. Duffy-Alfonso, an independent journalist, claimed she got to the airport 70 minutes before her flight was scheduled to depart, and was forced to wait 15 minutes for a pat-down because of her pregnancy. She also claimed officers were passive-aggressive and rude over her refusal to use the regular scanner.
“The agents were passive-aggressive, rude, and tried to pressure me and another pregnant woman into just walking through the scanner because it’s ‘safe,'” she posted in a rant on X. “After finally getting the absurdly invasive pat-down, I barely made my flight. All this for an unconstitutional agency that isn’t even good at its job.”
She also blasted the CLEAR program that allows passengers to bypass long waits at security lines by providing biometric data to prove their identity instead.
“Is this freedom?” she questioned. “Travel, brought to you by George Orwell—and the privilege of convenience based solely on your willingness to surrender biometric data and submit to radiation exposure? The ‘golden age of transportation’ cannot begin until the TSA is gone.”
Duffy-Alfonso additionally asked Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem and President Donald Trump to abolish the agency, alleging that it violated the Fourth Amendment that protected Americans from warrantless searches of people and their property.
Most airlines recommend passengers arrive at the airport for domestic flights two hours before their scheduled departure. For international flights, airlines recommend getting to airports three hours early.
