President Donald Trump on Monday deleted an image of himself that showed him healing a sick man while wearing robes resembling common depictions of Jesus Christ and his Apostles.Trump posted the image amid a string of posts in which he criticized Pope Leo XIV over his opposition to the Iran war and appeared to take credit for his election to the Papacy.
The image drew widespread backlash, including on Truth Social, with many of his own supporters calling on him to delete the image, which some took to portray him as Christ.
Trump’s post directly addressing the Pope’s comments remains live.
“I don’t want a Pope who thinks it’s OK for Iran to have a Nuclear Weapon,” he said. “I don’t want a Pope who thinks it’s terrible that America attacked Venezuela, a Country that was sending massive amounts of Drugs into the United States and, even worse, emptying their prisons, including murderers, drug dealers, and killers, into our Country. And I don’t want a Pope who criticizes the President of the United States because I’m doing exactly what I was elected, IN A LANDSLIDE, to do…”
“If I wasn’t in the White House, Leo wouldn’t be in the Vatican,” he added.
Just the News has sought comment from the White House.
