President Donald Trump on Friday sent further warnings to Iran concerning negotiations. “The Iranians don’t seem to realize they have no cards, other than a short term extortion of the World by using International Waterways. The only reason they are alive today is to negotiate!” he posted on Truth Social.
Trump was referring to the Strait of Hormuz, a primary artery through which liquefied natural gas, petrochemicals pass, and 20% of the world’s oil pass. Opening up the strait to ship traffic was a condition of the ceasefire, but since the agreement very little traffic has moved through it.
The comment comes shortly after another one suggesting the Iranians are making more headway in the area of public relations than they are on the battlefield.
“The Iranians are better at handling the Fake News Media, and ‘Public Relations,’ than they are at fighting!” Trump said.
