President Donald Trump on Wednesday threatened to impose a 50% tariff on any nation supplying weapons to Iran amid the two-week ceasefire between both countries.”A Country supplying Military Weapons to Iran will be immediately tariffed, on any and all goods sold to the United States of America, 50%, effective immediately. There will be no exclusions or exemptions!” he vowed on Truth Social.
The U.S. and Iran agreed to a two-week ceasefire on Tuesday evening and plan to hold negotiations to end the war in Islamabad, Pakistan on Friday. Trump indicated that he viewed the Iranian 10-point plan as “workable” but has also referenced his own 15-point plan.
The two peace proposals vary wildly and the negotiators will likely face a difficult task in reconciling Tehran and Washington’s visions for a post-conflict Middle East.
