Mace: Bondi ‘still compelled’ to testify on Epstein

Rep. Nancy Mace, R-S.C., on Friday indicated that she still expected former Attorney General Pam Bondi to testify before the House Oversight Committee on Jeffrey Epstein. The committee issued a subpoena to Bondi in early March amid longstanding frustrations with her handling of the matter. President Donald Trump announced this week that Bondi would step down from her post, but Oversight Republicans don’t intend to let her skip the testimony.
“We did it by name and not by the title of the attorney general, so she’s still compelled and required by law to come before the committee,” Mace told CNN, referencing the subpoena. “And at this juncture, I’m not backing away from that or backing down from that.”
Bondi saw her public popularity plunge early in the Trump administration after she organized a botched PR stunt in which she distributed binders of largely public information on Epstein to influencers.
She later faced scrutiny from Congress for her handling of the matter after Trump signed a bill into law forcing the release of the Epstein files.
