The Senate on Wednesday overwhelmingly approved legislation that would require the Department of War to provide the chamber with footage of its strikes on suspected Venezuelan drug boats. The 77-20 vote saw the measure earn a veto-poof majority as lawmakers included the provision in a “must pass” defense spending bill, Politico reported.
The inclusion of the measure follows Secretary of War Pete Hegseth declining to provide lawmakers with footage of a Sept. 2 strike that has attracted scrutiny over the use of a second strike to kill the survivors of the first.
The bill also includes a number of provisions that would limit the ability of the president to reduce troop levels in Europe.
