A San Francisco sting put the kibosh on a Bay Area pedal posse as an entry onto the freeway proved the off-ramp of their attempted bridge takeover.
In recent years, soft-on-crime policies have led to regular displays of lawlessness in the form of sideshows, street takeovers and gangs of roving delinquents on bicycles weaving in and out of traffic, playing chicken with cars and pedestrians alike. Over the weekend, one such gathering found out the San Francisco Police Department was opting out of being lax on “risky behavior” as a joint operation with the California Highway Patrol set a trap to detain nearly a hundred bicyclists.
