‘Free Tina!’: Trump calls to release imprisoned county clerk convicted in 2020 election case

President Donald Trump on Monday called for the release of Tina Peters, a former Colorado county clerk who was convicted for giving a man linked to MyPillow CEO Mike Lindell access to a voting machine.”For years, Democrats ignored Violent and Vicious Crime of all shapes, sizes, colors, and types. Violent Criminals who should have been locked up were allowed to attack again,” Trump posted on Truth Social. “Democrats were also far too happy to let in the worst from the worst countries so they could rip off American Taxpayers. Democrats only think there is one crime – Not voting for them!”
“Instead of protecting Americans and their Tax Dollars, Democrats chose instead to prosecute anyone they can find that wanted Safe and Secure Elections,” he went on. “Democrats have been relentless in their targeting of TINA PETERS, a Patriot who simply wanted to make sure that our Elections were Fair and Honest. Tina is sitting in a Colorado prison for the “crime” of demanding Honest Elections. FREE TINA!”
Peters is serving a nine-year sentence. Trump has previously urged Colorado to release her and asked Gov. Jared Polis, D-Colo., to pardon Peters.
Her family revealed in December that she had been attacked while in prison. 
“About 6 months ago, Mrs. Peters was threatened with harm,” the family wrote in a letter at the time. “Her life was threatened by a group of inmates, to stab her and to kill her. This was reported to the FBI and DOJ, which had agents interview her. She was moved to a different unit.”
“In the new unit, she was attacked by other prisoners 3 times in different locations where guards had to pull inmates off of her,” the attorney went on. “There is actually a safe unit where inmates who do not cause problems can be assigned. She has applied to be put into that unit but was denied 6 times without a valid reason.”
