Russian special envoy Kirill Dmitriev on Friday denied reports that Russia had offered to stop providing targeting information to Iran if the United States did the same in Ukraine.Politico reported earlier in the day that Dmitriev had made the offer to special envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, at the behest of Russian President Vladimir Putin.
“Fake,” he replied on X, resharing the Politico article. Dmitriev notably thanked Rep. Anna Paulina Luna, R-Fla., for warning about anonymous reports that the pair deemed were aimed at undermining U.S.-Russia negotiations.
“Thank you, Congresswoman Luna, for warning ahead of time about the massive fake media campaign to undermine progress,” he said in a comment.
“I am starting to see an orchestrated media campaign to increase tension with Russia via planted sources,” Luna said. “The U.S. and this admin is still very involved in peace talks with Russia regarding Ukraine and that is not going to be sabotaged by ANYONE. I am informing the American people on this as there is a ton of information circulating right now and some of it is false regarding this topic.”
