One person died Tuesday evening and one other was injured in a shooting at the Holloman Air Force Base in New Mexico, according to a base spokesperson. The base was placed on lockdown around 8:30 p.m. Eastern after reports of an active shooter situation, according to a statement released by the 49th wing, according to the New York Post. The lockdown has since been lifted.
The wounded individual is currently receiving medical treatment, but the identities of the two victims have not been released so far.
It was also not immediately clear if the shooter was part of the base and if they are in custody.
