A majority of American voters support President Donald Trump’s decision to order the military strike intended to destroy Iran’s nuclear weapons program and ballistic missile capabilities, according to a new Rasmussen Reports poll.  The poll, which was a national telephone and online survey, found that 52% of Likely U.S. Voters approve of the decision, including 35% who Strongly Approve. Forty-two percent (42%) disapprove of the attack, including 30% who Strongly Disapprove.
Trump announced Operation Epic Fury on March 3, just days after it actually began. He said: “An Iranian regime armed with long-range missiles and nuclear weapons would be a dire threat to every American. We cannot allow a nation that raises terrorist armies to possess such weapons.”
According to Rasmussen, 65% of voters agree with that statement, including 45% who Strongly Agree. Twenty-four percent (24%) disagree with it, including 10% who Strongly Disagree, and another 10% are not sure.
Sixty-eight percent (68%) of Republicans say the U.S. military operation against Iran should last at least a few more weeks, an opinion 32% of Democrats agree with, and 50% of voters not affiliated with either major party.
The survey of 1,085 U.S. Likely Voters was conducted on March 3-5, 2026, by Rasmussen Reports. The margin of sampling error is +/- 3 percentage points with a 95% level of confidence.
