President Donald Trump on Wednesday applauded Venezuela’s acting leader, Delcy Rodriguez, for working with the United States to expand oil production and to lessen tensions between Caracas and Washington.”Delcy Rodríguez, who is the President of Venezuela, is doing a great job, and working with U.S. Representatives very well,” Trump posted on Truth Social. “The Oil is beginning to flow, and the professionalism and dedication between both Countries is a very nice thing to see!”
Rodriguez assumed control of the country following the U.S. extraction of Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro to stand trial in New York on drug trafficking charges.
The U.S. removed Maduro in January in a special operation that saw U.S. forces fly into Caracas and remove him from the country.
