Three Alabama women were indicted for voter fraud in an August 2025 municipal election, according to recently published court documents. The three women in Monroe County – 67-year-old Sharon Crayton Denson, 46-year-old Samantha Trashawn Kyles and 59-year-old Sarah Crayton Bennett – have been indicted for voter fraud in the Aug. 26, 2025, Frisco City municipal election, local TV station WALA reported Thursday. They allegedly tampered with 20 people’s ballots.
Denson allegedly filled out absentee ballots for seven people, and is charged with six counts of unlawful use of absentee ballots and six counts of submitting false ballot applications, according to court documents. Her bail is set at $36,000.
Kyles allegedly altered ballots for four people, and is charged with four counts of unlawful use of absentee ballots and three counts of submitting false ballot applications, with bail set at $21,000.
According to Bennett’s court records, she allegedly filled out ballots for nine people, and is facing nine counts of unlawful use of absentee ballots and nine counts of submitting false ballot applications, with bail set at $54,000.
All three women are currently being held at the Monroe County Jail.
“I want to thank law enforcement and Attorney General Steve Marshall and his staff for the hard work and quality investigation skills that lead to these important indictments. Today’s news is the latest example of why I fought so hard to pass SB1, the bill that criminalized absentee ballot application harvesting,” Alabama Secretary of State Wes Allen (R) posted on X.
“Crimes like these are an affront to our elections, our communities and the fabric of our constitutional republic. As we approach the May 19 elections, anyone planning to engage in this illegal activity should consider this a warning. You will not get away with it.”
