Former U.S. Senate Majority Leader George Mitchell, one of the most prominent Democrats in Maine, was the focus of an investigation by the Federal Bureau of Investigation for sex trafficking allegations that were connected with now-deceased pedophile billionaire Jeffrey Epstein. Mitchell once referred to the convicted sex trafficker as a “friend and supporter.”
Mitchell’s relationship with Epstein isn’t new information, as he has publicly acknowledged his connection with him in a magazine interview, though he downplayed how close the two were. In the interview, Mitchell tried to put distance between himself and Epstein by describing him as a person who “organized a fundraiser for me once,” court documents said.
