President Donald Trump on Thursday evening fumed over Indiana Republicans bucking both him and their governor to vote down a redistricting proposal that would have given the GOP an edge in all nine of the Hoosier state’s districts. The map redraw had the support of Trump, Gov. Mike Braun, R-Ind., and cleared the state House, but failed in the Senate, where a multitude of Republicans broke ranks to oppose it. Trump took specific aim at the GOP’s state Senate majority leader.
“Republicans in the Indiana State Senate, who voted against a Majority in the U.S. House of Representatives, should be ashamed of themselves,” he posted on Truth Social. “Headed by a total loser named Rod Bray, every one of these people should be ‘primaried,’ and I will be there to help! Indiana, which I won big, is the only state in the Union to do this!”
In the wake of the vote, Trump, Braun, and Turning Point USA have announced their own efforts to unseat the Republican lawmakers who voted against the plan.
