New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani is facing backlash for what critics are calling inconsistency in his positions on identification requirements in New York City.Mamdani has voiced opposition to voter ID requirements, arguing they can disenfranchise low-income residents, seniors, and immigrants.
Opponents point to a separate local policy that requires residents to present various forms of identification for emergency snow-removal work during the upcoming major winter storm.
The sanitation department’s website said shovelers earn an hourly rate of $19.14 and the rate goes up to $28.71 an hour after the first 40 hours worked in a week.
