Former Rep. Tom Malinowski, D-N.J., on Tuesday conceded a close House primary to a progressive opponent, days after the election.”I congratulate Analilia Mejia on her hard won victory in the NJ-11 special primary,” he said in a statement. “I look forward to supporting her in the April general election. It is essential that we send a Democrat to Washington to fill this seat, not a rubber stamp for Trump.”
The district was previously represented by Rep. Mikie Sherrill, D-N.J., who has since been elected as New Jersey’s governor.
The special election to replace Sherrill is set for April.
