The House Rules Committee is set to meet on Monday over the Senate funding package to end the partial government shutdown. The panel is scheduled to begin the process of moving the bill forward at 4 p.m. ET, Punchbowl News reported.
On Friday, the Senate passed both the five-bill funding package and a two-week Homeland Security stopgap funding bill.
House Speaker Mike Johnson will have to pass the rule on the floor as Rep. Anna Paulina Luna, R-Fla., is threatening to shut down everything because the Senate refuses to pass a new voter ID law.
The House Freedom Caucus is also opposed to renegotiating Homeland Security funding, which means potentially 30 or more votes that Johnson will have to win over.
After the rule passes, Johnson will need 218 votes to pass the funding package, which could be on the floor on Tuesday.
