Rep. Steny Hoyer, D-Md., on Friday endorsed his former campaign manager to succeed him in the lower chamber after he steps down at the end of the current Congress.Maryland state Del. Adrian Boafo,D, is running to represent the 5th Maryland Congressional District, which includes much of the southern part of the state.
“Thank you, Congressman Hoyer, for your service to our nation and for your support in this race. We will continue to build upon your work and deliver for the people of Maryland’s 5th,” Boafo said in response.
Hoyer is the longest-serving House Democrat, according to The Hill. He previously held the post of majority leader under House Speaker Nancy Pelosi.
