The Norwegian Nobel Committee may have put Denmark’s territory Greenland in President Trump’s cross hairs by not awarding him the Nobel Peace Prize, recently regifted to Trump by its recipient, Venezuelan opposition leader Maria Corina Machado, according to a report.Reuters said it saw a letter from Trump to Norway’s Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Stoere that portrayed the Nobel Peace Prize snub as a last straw for the president.
“Considering your Country decided not to give me the Nobel Peace Prize for having stopped 8 Wars PLUS, I no longer feel an obligation to think purely of Peace, although it will always be predominant, but can now think about what is good and proper for the United States of America,” Trump reportedly wrote.
He asked why Denmark has “a ‘right of ownership’ anyway?” and said: “The World is not secure unless we have Complete and Total Control of Greenland.”
As with the European Union’s emergency summit following Trump’s tariff threat against countries not supporting U.S. control of Greenland, Stoere changed his schedule in response to Trump’s reported letter, now saying he’ll attend the World Economic Forum in Davos this week when Trump is also there, Reuters reported.
